Anniversaries!

You see the problem is... My life isn't really full of drama.  It's not really full of anything.  I live a very mundane and routine life.  It's not full of the excitement that I used to write about.

Also, I used to do a lot of blogging at work, but with the crew that I work with now, it's almost impossible for me to do so.  I spend almost 90% of my free time at work talking about baseball.  Blogging just can't hold up to that!  Come on!  Do you really think I'd rather be typing about how bored I am at work as opposed to arguing if Mike Mussia is a hall of famer or not?  Seriously.. If you were me.. What would you do?  Exactly.  BTW - Mike Mussina is a hall of famer.  Get over it.

In other news, my roommates stood outside Best Buy at 3:00am on Black Friday and now we have a huge 50' TV and Playstation 3.  This definitely puts my relationship with my wonderful girlfriend in jeopardy.  I suck at Madden '09, but I just can't get enough of it.  And MLB '08 The Show...  I mean.. Wow.  WOW.  Yeah, it's like that.  Hopefully, Anita will learn to share time with the PS3 and understand that the PS3 will be taking up mos of my free time, now.  It was bound to happen at some point.

Yes.. I'm humping the box in this picture.

From Sita comes to live with us

Mmm... Yes.

I will try and get this thing off the ground for real.  Maybe if I can stir up some participation, I will be more interested.  I think the idea that my life being chronicled on the internet is really great.  Unfortunately, I lack the talent and the ambition to keep up with it consistently.

That's another huge problem.  I just don't like the way I write, anymore.  Somewhere in the middling of my blogging, I lost my voice and am struggling to regain it.  Maybe if I just keep at it, it will come back naturally.  I just have to find the time.

Obama Nation.

I've been wanting to write something about this entire election process, but I just haven't had time.

For the first time in a very long while, I'm filled with a sense of hope for this nation.  After this election, I've had a renewed sense of pride in calling myself an American.  In the days leading up to the election, even with Obama leading in every possible poll everyone could think of (even the Fox polls!), I was afraid.  I was scared of the Bradley Effect, the Wilder Effect, and every other effect there is to define closet racism.  The days leading up the election, I found myself crying watching Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.  It means SO MUCH right now.  This election was EXACTLY what Dr. King was talking about.  My coworker made a comment telling me not to compare Obama to Dr. King as they were not the same thing.  He misunderstood my intention.  I was watching Obama's speech after Dr. King's speech not because Obama's black or what Obama is going to attempt to do is in any way related to what Dr. King did.  It was because Obama is the realization of Dr. King's dream.

I'm a liberal.  Am I a bleeding heart liberal?  No.  Am I a moderate liberal?  I would probably have to say no to that as well.  But even with my own admitted liberal bias, I don't see how Obama was not the CLEAR CUT answer in this election.  As much of a maverick McCain claimed to be, he still believed in the same economic principles that George W. Bush believed in.  And, in my opinion, if you believe that the economic policies of deregulation were to blame for the brunt of this economic disaster, a vote for McCain was a vote to continue much of those similar policies.  So, with such a clear cut answer, how could middle class Americans possibly justify a vote for McCain?  Unless of course, white America is trying to mask some lingering racism.

And that's why this election meant so much.  That's why Dr. King is smiling in heaven (if there is one) right now.  He wanted his kids to be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin and THANK GOD, that's what happened.  I wouldn't believe it.  The polls, the pundits, the people..  I thought the election was going to be close.  When the west cost polls closed and Wolf Blitzer came on and projected that Obama would surpass the 270 votes at only about 11:00-ish, I was astonished.  The American people came out and collectively anihilated any sense of cynisism that I had about the intelligence of the average American.  The right man was chosen for the toughest of jobs.  And he was elected not because of the color of his skin, but with disregard to it.  The nation, the WORLD had cried out for change, and we the people have opened that very possibility.

It was one of the most amazing days in my life.

And although I don't live on the TOP of a mountain, I do live on a mountain and let me see loud and clear..

Let freedom ring, let freedom ring.  God almighty let freedom ring.

My first review.

I had my first review at my job today.

I was nervous about it.

I shouldn't have been.

He said I was either leading or at least at the top of every metric he uses to measure performance.

Is health care a right or priviledge??

Is health care a right or a privilege to you?

This is the most ridiculous question I can answer.  How can a country that claims to be of the people and for the people consider something as basic as health care anything but a right?  How can a country that produces the best in medical technology and the best in specialists not have these readily available to ALL of its inhabitants?

In a place that claims to be the greatest country on Earth, there should not be ONE SINGLE family that has to choose between putting food on the table and getting adequate healthcare.   It just doesn't make sense to me.  I don't see how this is even up for debate?

understand that we live in a limited free market economy, but there are some things that should be outside the free market.  Sure, it might raise taxes some, but I'm fine with that.  I've been bitten by the medical emergency during a period where I didn't have health insurance and I ended up having to stay in the hospital for a week and ended up owing almost $20,000.  $20,000!!  Can you believe that?  I'm STILL paying some of that off to this day!  And you know what?  I consider myself LUCKY.  It could have been much worse, I could make LESS money, my bills could've been higher.  I hear and read so many horror stories about people declaring BANKRUPTCY because they are absolutely overwhelmed by medical debt.  I just don't get it.  You can't and shouldn't have to put a price tag on your health.

With Obama leading by a healthy margin in the polls, I'm hopeful that something will be done about health care in the near future.  Of course, it may be delayed thanks to the current economic disaster, but like I said...  I'm hopeful.
